BELLE VUE CHARITY BANGER RACE 7TH OCTOBER 2002
Rob used a Toyota MR2 that had just come into the yard the day he agreed to do the race. It turned out to be an inspired choice, as he easily won the F1 drivers race beating amongst other John Lund, Andy Smith & Mark Gilbank. He nearly won the banger final that went to his brother. The final carried on into the DD, and with a show of brilliant driving he won despite the car being on fire.

ASCAR STAR ROB SPEAK WINS SPECIAL CHARITY BANGER EVENT
AT BELLE VUE
Good Guys Oval ASCAR star Rob Speak completed a winning double when he swapped his 175mph, Days of Thunder-style, Chevrolet Monte Carlo for a beaten up old Toyota MR2 at a special charity Banger event at Belle Vue, Manchester on Monday night.
Speak, who also competes in BriSCA F1 stock cars and is a former world champion, was one of a number of BriSCA F1 drivers racing at the event, including new BriSCA F1 World and European champion John Lund and British champion Andy Smith.
The event was promoted by Startrax with principal charities for Olivias Fund and to raise money for vital equipment for BriSCA driver Mick Harris' son Jamie, who suffers from cerebral palsy.
Speak was unstoppable in the Toyota MR2, winning the F1 stock car Banger race and then completing a famous double by leading home a field of top Banger drivers including Banger World Champion Carlos Perez.
Startrax invited top Coronation Street celebrities Bruce Jones (Les Battersby) and Andy Whyment (Kirk) who were on hand to give out the trophies and to sign autographs.
